The Jackals are facing the Cyclones tonight for the first of seven meetings this season and first of two at First Arena. The Cyclones are the second North Division team to visit Elmira after Kalamazoo was in town for last weekend's three-in-three. Elmira was 1-1-0 at home against Cincinnati last year, but hasn't faced the Cyclones in Elmira since October 27, 2012. Artem Demkov was the overtime hero that night in a 3-2 win. The Cyclones' 3-2 win in Elmira on October 26 of last year was their first regulation win at First Arena since a 5-1triumph on February 16, 2008. Elmira boasts a 10-5-4 home record in their ECHL history against Cincinnati. Despite entering tonight as the top team in the North the Cyclones are just 4-6-0 in their last 10 games.

Rookie forward Jakub Culek waited nearly 365 days between his last amateur goal in the QMJHL and his first pro goal. He finally broke through with his first marker Nov. 15 vs. Wheeling. Culek proceeded to go on a three-game point streak (2 goals, 2 assists) and recorded his first pro multi-point game Nov. 22 vs. Kalamazoo. The Ottawa Senators' prospect is catching fire with seven points (3G, 4A) in the last 7 games.
