Elmira Jackals Re-Sign Jean Bourbeau and Individual Game Tickets On Sale Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013

ELMIRA, N.Y. -  The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have re-signed veteran winger Jean Bourbeau for the 2013-14 season. They also announced that individual game tickets will go on sale Tuesday, October 1, 2013.
"Jean Bourbeau is a very important part of our hockey club. He is a true leader on the ice and in the community, and he can be counted on to play in every game situation. We are thrilled to have him back," said Jackals head coach Dwight Mullins.
Bourbeau, 29, returns to Elmira for his third season with the Jackals. He joins Artem Demkov, Rob Bellamy, and Jordain Pietrus as third-year returnees; while he'll be skating alongside Kyle Bushee, Jordan Southorn, Matt Carter, and Dylan Quaile for the second straight season.
Last year Bourbeau served as the Jackals' captain and put up career highs in goals (20), assists (18), points (38), and games played (64). He also added a goal in six Kelly Cup playoff games. His efforts earned him a six game call up to the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators.
The 6-0, 200-pound forward from Bonnyville, Alberta has suited up for 113 regular season games with the Jackals since 2011. He has produced 30 goals, 34 assists, and 110 penalty minutes in that time with an additional four goals and two assists in 16 playoff contests.
Bourbeau, along with Jordan Pietrus and Rob Bellamy, are within range of breaking Chaz Johnson's record for most ECHL games played as a Jackal which currently sits at 160.
"I'm excited to work with Coach Mullins again and to be a part of all the new things happening with the Jackals." said Bourbeau. "It means a lot to me to be getting back on the ice with such a great group of guys. We've got a real shot at going all the way this year, especially with the support of our awesome fans in Elmira. My wife and I are looking forward to getting back to the community and getting this season underway," he added.

Jackals Bring Back Dylan Quaile And Add Toughness with Alexandre Carrier

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Dylan Qualie and forward Alexandre Carrier (CARE-ee-ay) for the 2013-14 season.

"Quaile brings to us a lot of experience at the professional and top-tier amateur levels. He will be an important part of our defensive corps this season. Carrier has the frame and the mindset to be an effective power forward. He plays with the type of edge and toughness that we really look for in Elmira," said Jackals vice president and general manager Robbie Nichols.
Quaile, 24, will be suiting up for his second full season of professional hockey in 2013-14. After completing a four-year career at the University of Prince Edward Island he joined the Jackals for their final nine regular season games, and all six playoff games, last year. He picked up a pair of assists in the regular season and one during the Kelly Cup playoffs. A 6-2, 200-pound defenseman, Quaile notched 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) over 65 games for the Trenton Devils in 2008-09.
As an amateur Quaile suited up for Rouyn-Noranda and Prince Edward Island in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before attending the University of P.E.I. He accumulated 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) and 99 penalty minutes in 171 games over his time in the QMJHL. At the U. of P.E.I. Quaile produced 55 points (7 goals, 48 assists) in 110 games. He skated alongside current Jackals teammate Matt Carter at the U. of P.E.I. from 2009 to 2012, and was also a teammate of Jordon Southorn with Prince Edward Island of the QMJHL in 2008.
"I think that with the returning core from last season, we have the chance to really make a push this year. All these guys have the desire to win and make it to the next level, and they're who I want to be working with in order to do the same.
"I'm going to be a complete two-way defenseman helping the team at both ends of the ice. I'll do whatever it takes to help make this team a contender," said Quaile.

Carrier, 22, comes to Elmira after spending last year with the Trenton Titans. As a rookie he led the Titans, and finished 15th among all ECHL rookies, with 102 penalty minutes in just 47 games. Carrier also notched a goal and five assists in his rookie campaign. Before playing professionally in North America, he logged three points (2 goals, 1 assist) and 37 penalty minutes in 10 games with Salzburg EC of the Austrian league during the 2011-12 season.
A 6-3, 210-pound wing, Carrier played three seasons with Val d'Or of the QMJHL before embarking on his pro career. He was the leading scorer for the Foreurs in the 2011 playoffs with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in four games. That came after a regular season that saw Carrier put up 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) and 130 penalty minutes in 67 games. In total, he posted 231 penalty minutes and 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists) in 141 games with Val d'Or.
"I'm excited to joint the Elmira Jackals organization. From playing against them last year, I know that they are a competitive, hard working and well respected team that is hard to play against and intimidating. Those are the same qualities that you'll see in me, as a player, so it's a great fit.
"Like everyone else, I want to help the team return to the playoffs and make run at a Kelly Cup championship," said Carrier.

Elmira Jackals Bring Back Matt Carter

ELMIRA, N.Y. -  The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Matt Carter for the 2013-14 season. Carter joins Rob Bellamy, Kyle Bushee, Artem Demkov, Jordan Pietrus, and Jordon Southorn as the sixth returnee from last year's team.
"Matt Carter's acquisition was a big reason behind last year's successful playoff push over the final two months. He is a versatile guy who can fill a top-six forward role and he is defensively responsible," said Jackals vice president and general manager Robbie Nichols.
Carter, 26, came to Elmira on January 30, 2013 in a trade that sent Matt Campanale to Las Vegas. Prior to the trade he recorded five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 29 combined games between San Francisco and Las Vegas. His offense took off in Elmira and he racked up 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) in 29 games for the Jackals. Carter also had a knack for finding the back of the net in shootouts. He led the league last year with seven shootout goals and went 4-for-6 with the Jackals.
Carter, a 6-2, 205-pound winger, found an extra gear in the playoffs when he tied for the team lead with six assists and finished second with seven points in six games. He was one of four Jackals to average more than a point per game in the Kelly Cup playoffs.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Carter has played in 72 ECHL games with a total of 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) to his credit. Prior to turning pro he poured in 144 points (69 goals, 75 assists) in 111 games for the University of Prince Edward Island (AUS). He was also the leading scorer for the Ontario Hockey League's Owen Sound Attack during the 2007-08 season with 54 points (30 goals, 24 assists).
"I'm really looking forward to my second year in Elmira. We had a great group of guys that finished the year last year, and a lot of them are coming back. Coach Mullins and the rest of the staff are top-notch, too and they make Elmira a great place to play.
"I'm concentrated on playing even better than I did last year and helping the team with our main goal of winning a championship this year," said Carter.

2013 Elmira Jackals Pro Placement Camp Recap

ELMIRA, N..Y. - Last weekend the Elmira Jackals hosted their eighth-annual Pro Placement Camp at First Arena. Forty nine players showcased their skills in an effort to secure an invitation to the Jackals' main training camp in October. At the end of the weekend three players advanced from pro placement camp to the main training camp.

"We had a very successful pro placement camp last weekend. Dwight Mullins and I picked three young players who will have a chance to come to training camp in October and compete for a spot on the club for this season.
"From everyone on the Jackals, I'd like to thank the players for attending and giving a great effort, the fans for showing up to cheer the players on, and everyone who volunteered their time to make sure the camp ran smoothly," said Jackals vice president and general manager Robbie Nichols.
This year's pro placement camp was a grueling process that had the players on the ice for a total of seven hours in three days. After team practice sessions on Friday evening, Team White and Team Blue scrimmaged twice on Saturday and once on Sunday to close the camp. Team White swept the scrimmages and placed two players in Elmira's main camp.
The players were evaluated by pro placement camp directors Robbie Nichols, Jackals head coach Dwight Mullins, and head coach of the Federal Hockey League champion Danbury Whalers - Phil Esposito. At the conclusion of the camp they selected from Team Blue defenseman Scott Morongell, and from Team White forward Brett Leonard and goalie Mike McDonald.
Morongell, 22, looks to turn pro after finishing his collegiate career at Liberty University. A native of Augusta, New Jersey, Morongell is a 6-0, 205-pound blueliner who produced 19 points (5 goals, 14 assists) and 46 penalty minutes in 40 games for Liberty in 2012-13. Liberty is an American Collegiate Hockey Association Division-I program.
Leonard, 26, chipped in 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists) in 14 games with Danbury during the 2012-13 regular season and added another five points (2 goals, 3 assists) over six playoff games to help the Whalers claim the FHL title. From 2007-2012 Leonard, 5-6, 175-pounds, suited up for the University of Vermont alongside former Jackals forward Jack Downing. Leonard, who hails from South Burlington, Vermont, produced 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) in 99 games for the Catamounts.
McDonald, 23, is a rookie goaltender out of Salve Regina University which competes at the NCAA Division-III level. He put together a career record of 9-27-3 with the Seahawks, and was named to the 2012 ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team. McDonald calls Whitby, Ontario home.
