Jackals Acquire Momesso From Wheeling

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that they have acquired Stefano Momesso from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for cash.

Momesso, 21, started the season in Wheeling's training camp but was placed on the 21-day IR on October 16 so he has not appeared in any game action this season. The Kirkland, Quebec native played the last three seasons in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) with Smiths Falls and Hawkesbury. In 176 CCHL games Momesso recorded 134 points (45 goals, 89 assists) and 95 penalty minutes.

His father, Sergio, collected 345 points (152 goals, 193 assists) and 1557 penalty minutes in 710 NHL games with Montreal, St. Louis, Vancouver, Toronto and New York. Sergio was selected in the second round (#27 overall) by Montreal in the 1983 NHL Draft.
