The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres
and AHL's Rochester Americans, finish their weekend set against the
Wheeling Nailers tonight at First Arena. Tonight's contest marks the 10th of 13 meetings between the Jackals and Nailers this season.

Tonight
the Jackals host the Wheeling Nailers for the 10th of 13 meetings this
season and the fourth of six at First Arena. Last night, the Jackals and
Nailers battled through the first 49:34 without a goal, until former
Jackal Chaz Johnson opened the scoring for the Nailers. Zach Tolkinen
tied the game late in the third period on the power-play and sent it to
extra time. Travis Fullerton stopped 33 shots and two more in the
shootout, but was saddled with the hard-fought 2-1 shootout loss. The
last time these two teams met at First Arena was November 23rd, 2014.
Derek Army scored the game-winner and the empty-net goal in Wheeling's
2-0 win. Sam Marotta stopped 24 of 25 shots faced, but Eric Hartzell
turned aside all 38 shots faced for the shutout. The previous night,
Elmira buried three power-play goals and defeated the Nailers 6-3. Mike
Seidel, Steven Shamanski and Allan McPherson recorded four points apiece
to lead the Jackals offensively. Travis Fullerton stopped 25 of 28
shots faced for the victory. Elmira holds a 39-29-11 all-time record
against Wheeling.
