Jackals Sign Two Goaltenders

ELMIRA, N.Y.  - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the club has signed goaltenders Chris Rawlings and Nick Niedert to Standard Player Contracts.

Rawlings, 26, joins the Jackals in his second professional season. Last year, the 6-foot-5 220-pound native of North Delta, British Columbia, appeared in five games with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League, six games with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL and 12 games with the Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League. Rawlings also appeared in two games with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL and one game with Portland in 2012-13, following the conclusion of his collegiate career. In four years at Northeastern University, Rawlings posted a 47-55-16 record with a 2.83 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage. He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2009-2010.

Niedert, 32, joins the Jackals in his 11th professional season. The 5-foot-8 185-pound native of Hudson, Iowa has played for 25 teams combined between the SPHL, MAHL, EPHL, AAHL, IHL, FHL, CHL and ECHL. Niedert appeared in three games with the Jackals during the 2011-12 campaign and posted a 2-0-0 record with a 2.07 goals-against-average and a .904 save percentage.
