Jackals Add McPherson; Loan Shamanski To Springfield

ELMIRA, N.Y.  - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that forward Allan McPherson has been assigned to Elmira from Rochester. Additionally, the team announced today that defenseman Steven Shamanski has been loaned to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

McPherson, 23, returns to Elmira following his second AHL stint this season. The Kinburn, Ontario native was last assigned to Elmira on January 22nd and in four games he posted seven assists. McPherson has recorded 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) in 22 games with Elmira this season. The rookie forward has also skated in 21 games with Rochester this season. Prior to turning pro, McPherson spent the previous four seasons at Clarkson University. In 150 NCAA games, McPherson reached the 100-point club, amassing 103 points (41 goals, 62 assists). He was a two-time MVP at Clarkson, earning the award in his junior and senior seasons and was also a two-time leading scorer.

Shamanski, 25, heads to the AHL for the second time this season. The Carberry, Manitoba made his AHL debut with Rochester on October 11th. The rookie defenseman heads to Springfield as the Jackals' leading scorer with 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 48 games with Elmira. Shamanski also represented the Jackals in this year's ECHL All-Star Game. Prior to turning pro, Shamanski played four seasons at Providence College, collecting 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) in 141 NCAA contests.
