Tassone Earns Second Call-Up To Rochester

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced today that the club has loaned forward Matt Tassone to Rochester.

Tassone, 25, has earned his second call-up to Rochester this season after appearing in one game during his first AHL stint with the Americans. He finished plus-one with a shot on goal for Rochester in last Friday's 5-2 win. The Jackals' team captain leads Elmira with 14 goals and a plus-15 rating in 24 games this season. He is also tied for the team lead with 24 points and 78 penalty minutes. In 150career ECHL games with Elmira, Las Vegas, Ontario and Idaho, the St. Albert, Alberta native has collected 88 points (43 goals, 45 assists). The 6-foot-2 210-pound forward has also appeared in 13 AHL games with the Lake Erie Monsters and 14 CHL games with the Arizona Sundogs and the Wichita Thunder.

Prior to turning pro, Tassone played 187 games with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League. He recorded 73 goals, 46 assists and 343 penalty minutes in four seasons with the Broncos. Tassone was drafted by the Dallas Stars with the 176th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
