Jackals Bring Back Dylan Quaile And Add Toughness with Alexandre Carrier

ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Dylan Qualie and forward Alexandre Carrier (CARE-ee-ay) for the 2013-14 season.

"Quaile brings to us a lot of experience at the professional and top-tier amateur levels. He will be an important part of our defensive corps this season. Carrier has the frame and the mindset to be an effective power forward. He plays with the type of edge and toughness that we really look for in Elmira," said Jackals vice president and general manager Robbie Nichols.
Quaile, 24, will be suiting up for his second full season of professional hockey in 2013-14. After completing a four-year career at the University of Prince Edward Island he joined the Jackals for their final nine regular season games, and all six playoff games, last year. He picked up a pair of assists in the regular season and one during the Kelly Cup playoffs. A 6-2, 200-pound defenseman, Quaile notched 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) over 65 games for the Trenton Devils in 2008-09.
As an amateur Quaile suited up for Rouyn-Noranda and Prince Edward Island in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League before attending the University of P.E.I. He accumulated 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) and 99 penalty minutes in 171 games over his time in the QMJHL. At the U. of P.E.I. Quaile produced 55 points (7 goals, 48 assists) in 110 games. He skated alongside current Jackals teammate Matt Carter at the U. of P.E.I. from 2009 to 2012, and was also a teammate of Jordon Southorn with Prince Edward Island of the QMJHL in 2008.
"I think that with the returning core from last season, we have the chance to really make a push this year. All these guys have the desire to win and make it to the next level, and they're who I want to be working with in order to do the same.
"I'm going to be a complete two-way defenseman helping the team at both ends of the ice. I'll do whatever it takes to help make this team a contender," said Quaile.

Carrier, 22, comes to Elmira after spending last year with the Trenton Titans. As a rookie he led the Titans, and finished 15th among all ECHL rookies, with 102 penalty minutes in just 47 games. Carrier also notched a goal and five assists in his rookie campaign. Before playing professionally in North America, he logged three points (2 goals, 1 assist) and 37 penalty minutes in 10 games with Salzburg EC of the Austrian league during the 2011-12 season.
A 6-3, 210-pound wing, Carrier played three seasons with Val d'Or of the QMJHL before embarking on his pro career. He was the leading scorer for the Foreurs in the 2011 playoffs with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in four games. That came after a regular season that saw Carrier put up 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) and 130 penalty minutes in 67 games. In total, he posted 231 penalty minutes and 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists) in 141 games with Val d'Or.
"I'm excited to joint the Elmira Jackals organization. From playing against them last year, I know that they are a competitive, hard working and well respected team that is hard to play against and intimidating. Those are the same qualities that you'll see in me, as a player, so it's a great fit.
"Like everyone else, I want to help the team return to the playoffs and make run at a Kelly Cup championship," said Carrier.
