The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the 14th of 16 meetings this season and the eighth of nine at Santander Arena. Elmira is 2-10-1 against Reading this season, which includes a 2-4-1 record on the Royals' home ice. Elmira was 2-2-1 in the season series against Reading heading into a home date with the Royals on December 26. Reading claimed the win that night and began a run of eight consecutive victories against the Jackals. In the seven-year series between the Jackals (95 games) Reading's current win streak is the longest. The Jackals have scored first in their last three meetings with the Royals, including a 2-0 lead at home on February 12, but have not been able to maintain them. The last time the Jackals defeated Reading at Santander Arena was December 15. Kyle Bushee's second period goal proved to be the game-winner as the Jackals shut down the Royals defensively in the final frame.

Jordan Pietrus has kicked his offensive production into high gear lately. The third-year Jackal was held to 26 points from October through January but in the five weeks of play since he has generated 50 percent of that production with 13 points on four goals and nine assists. Pietrus is averaging just under a point per game in March with three goals and one assist and is tied for the team lead in goals this month.
