"STTAC is so excited to be working with the Elmira Jackals, as many youth in the area look up to the hockey players. Our four tobacco-free MVPs serve as role models to keep kids from starting to smoke or chew. Currently, 90 percent of smokers begin by the age of 18, so efforts to help smokers quit and keep kids from beginning will have a major impact on the health of residents in Chemung, Steuben and Schuyler counties now and in the future," said Lorelei Wagner, STTAC Field Specialist. "We hope tobacco users take advantage of all the resources available for the Great American Smokeout and give quitting a chance."
STTAC will also have a table on the First Arena concourse at Friday's game to provide more information to fans who are interested in quitting smoking or chewing tobacco.
