The Road To The Show Presented by Liberty Travel

ELMIRA, N.Y. - As the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils, and the AHL's Binghamton Senators and Albany Devils, the Jackals are tasked with developing prospects throughout the organizations. The Road To The Show presented by Liberty Travel provides details on how those prospects are progressing.
Ottawa Senators (NHL) – Ottawa is struggling to string together wins early in the 2013-14 campaign. This past week the Senators were 1-2 with both losses coming at home. Ottawa currently sits sixth in the Atlantic Division with a 4-5-2 record. On the bright side Ottawa does not have any current injuries. Last week Ottawa recalled Mika Zibanejad and Derek Grant. In three NHL games Zibanejad has two points, including a power-play goal scored Friday night vs. Anaheim. On Sunday the 2011 sixth overall selection played 17:36 and finished +1. Grant doesn’t have any points in four games thus far but saw 14:12 total ice time on Sunday.
Binghamton Senators (AHL) – This past weekend Binghamton stayed home and split two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Adirondack. The Senators currently sit third in the East Division with a 5-3 record. On Friday the B-Sens handed the Penguins their first loss this season. Before taking the ice Saturday the Senators were busy in the transaction department. Ottawa reassigned Ludwig Karlsson to Binghamton from Elmira. The Swede finished the game Saturday with four shots on goal and a -1 rating. Ottawa also reassigned Jakub Culek and Troy Rutkowski to Elmira from Binghamton. Culek had zero points in two games and Rutkowski had one goal in four games with the B-Sens. Former Jackal Chris Wideman scored his first goal of the season on Saturday and has seven points in seven games.
New Jersey Devils (NHL) – The Devils improved their record to 2-5-4 with a 1-0-1 record this past week and currently sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division. However, the injury losses suffered this weekend outweigh the positive results. Cory Schneider did not travel to Boston for Saturday’s game and was placed on the injured reserve with a lower body injury. New Jersey also lost Bryce Salvador to the IR with a stress fracture in his foot. Both players join Ryane Clowe who remains on the IR with a head injury. Eric Gelinas was recalled by New Jersey last Wednesday, returned to Albany on Sunday, and then recalled by New Jersey again on Monday in the wake of Salvador’s injury. Goalie Keith Kinkaid went through the same process due to the injury to Schneider. Kinkaid was recalled by New Jersey on Saturday, returned to Albany on Sunday, and recalled by New Jersey today.
Albany Devils (AHL) – Amidst the recent whirlwind of transactions, Albany has remained steady on the ice. The Devils improved their record to 5-2-0-1 with a 2-1 record this past week. They currently sit third in the Northeast Division. To fill the hole left by Keith Kinkaid the Devils recalled Maxime Clermont from Elmira. Clermont was 0-2 with a 3.05 goals-against-average and a .838 save-percentage this season with the Jackals. He did not see any action in Albany’s game on Saturday.
